YouTube has unveiled Shorts Series, a new feature designed to bring structured, episodic storytelling to its short-form video ecosystem. Announced at the Made On YouTube event, the tool enables creators to arrange individual Shorts into TV-style seasons and episodes.
Instead of discovering each clip separately through an endless feed, viewers can follow a connected storyline and watch episodes in sequence. Series will appear directly on a creator's YouTube channel, offering a more organized viewing experience for short vertical content.
A new format for creator-led shows
The feature includes custom thumbnails and continuous playback options, helping creators present short-form productions with a clearer identity. It is rolling out to members of the YouTube Partner Program across web, mobile devices and connected TVs.
Shorts Series reflects the growing momentum behind microdrama formats, where concise episodes build ongoing narratives for mobile-first audiences. The approach can support fiction, comedy, educational content, lifestyle stories and creator-led entertainment.
YouTube says the tool expands on its earlier Creator Shows initiative, which gave selected creators ways to organize longer content into binge-friendly seasons. With Shorts Series, that structure now reaches the platform's fast-paced vertical video format.
More tools for audience engagement
Alongside Shorts Series, YouTube introduced new creator features including Live Showdowns for interactive challenges, expanded A/B testing for video openings and edits, and Dynamic Thumbnails, which can display different creator-selected thumbnail options to different audiences.
By giving short videos a more recognizable episodic framework, Shorts Series may help shape a future where vertical storytelling becomes a lasting part of digital entertainment.
