Xenom Brings a New Decathlon-Style Fitness Format to the Global Stage

Xenom is positioning itself as a fresh force in competitive fitness, blending the intensity of functional training with the structure of a multi-event championship. At its debut in Frisco, Texas, more than 250 athletes from different countries took part in a two-day format built to test strength, endurance, skill, and recovery.

Founded by Keith Barlow, the event is designed as "the decathlon of fitness," with 10 standardized challenges that include running, heavy lifts, rowing, ski work, rope climbs, wall walks, and gymnastic movements. The competition is organized across three divisions -- Compete, Rx, and Elite -- so athletes can enter at different levels while still facing the same core tests.

Barlow says the goal is to create a premium, repeatable experience that feels worthy of year-round preparation. To support that vision, Xenom partnered with CrossFit Motion in the U.K., received input from a university-backed study on accessible fitness testing, and secured backing from WndrCo, along with equipment and training partners from the functional fitness world.

The event also reflects a broader shift in sports culture: more athletes now want structured, high-energy competitions that reward both performance and consistency. Xenom's format aims to offer that balance, combining the spectacle of a major arena event with the familiarity of benchmark workouts that competitors can train for in advance.

With planned editions in London, Miami, and Paris, Xenom is building toward a global calendar and larger fields in the years ahead. If the model continues to grow, it could help redefine how mass-participation fitness events are staged worldwide, shaping the next era of competitive wellness.
