Vercel's CEO Guillermo Rauch Indicates Readiness for IPO Amid AI-Driven Growth

As the landscape of technology evolves, many startups founded before the rise of AI are grappling with adaptation. However, Vercel, a decade-old platform for developer tools and website hosting, is thriving amidst the surge of AI-generated applications.

Guillermo Rauch, the CEO of Vercel, shared insights during the HumanX conference in San Francisco, stating, "When I started this company, only tens of millions of people could deploy. Now, we're witnessing a global wave of app creation."

This shift towards app development by non-developers has significantly boosted Vercel's business model. The company's annual recurring revenue (ARR) has dramatically increased from $100 million at the beginning of 2024 to a projected run rate of $340 million by February 2026, as reported by Forbes.

With such impressive growth, Rauch was questioned about potential IPO plans. He indicated that Vercel is already functioning with the rigor of a public entity, noting, "Vercel is very much a working public company." While he did not commit to a specific timeline for an IPO, he expressed confidence in the company's readiness, saying, "There's no perfect timeline or quarter I can give. The company's ready and getting more ready for it every day."

Despite a challenging environment for new public listings in 2026, marked by a downturn in software stocks due to concerns about AI disruption, Vercel is positioning itself for a successful debut. Rauch emphasized that the total addressable market for infrastructure has expanded significantly, suggesting limitless growth potential.

As Vercel anticipates a future where AI agents increasingly create applications, the company aims to establish itself as the primary platform for hosting these innovations. Rauch pointed out, "Agents are very prolific at deploying," with 30% of the apps on Vercel's platform already generated by AI agents.

According to Rauch, the rise of AI agents will streamline software production, making it simpler to create custom solutions rather than relying on existing software. "All of that software... it needs to go somewhere, and we think it's going to be Vercel," he asserted.

Recently valued at $9.3 billion following a $300 million Series F funding round, Vercel competes with major players like Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services while also offering innovative tools like v0 for website and app creation.
