Valar Atomics Secures $1 Billion to Scale Small Modular Reactor Production

Valar Atomics has confirmed a major financing milestone, raising $1 billion in equity in a round led by Sequoia. The company also added Sequoia partner Shaun Maguire to its board, while securing a $200 million credit line from Erebor and other banks.

Founded by Isaiah Taylor, Valar is focused on small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs), a next-generation approach designed to make nuclear power more compact, faster to deploy, and more efficient to manufacture than conventional plants. The company says its strategy is built around turning each reactor into a source of engineering and operational data that can accelerate future designs.

In June, Valar said its Ward 250 reactor successfully powered an Nvidia Blackwell system and that it had reached an agreement with Nvidia to develop a waterless 30MW AI factory. The startup says these milestones support its broader plan to move from prototype development toward manufacturing reactor fleets at scale.

Valar's latest funding round also included participation from Apandion Capital, Atreides Management, Conviction, Dream Ventures, HOF Capital, Point72 Ventures, Riot Ventures, Snowpoint Ventures, and Valor Equity Partners. With fresh capital and expanding industrial partnerships, the company is positioning itself at the intersection of energy innovation and advanced computing.

This momentum suggests a future where compact nuclear systems could play a larger role in powering high-demand digital infrastructure and cleaner industrial growth.
