The University of Connecticut is offering a funded, two-year MFA in Studio Art, pairing independent creative research with hands-on undergraduate teaching. Graduate teaching assistantships help students build skills for careers in both art and education.
The program welcomes work across painting, drawing, printmaking, bookmaking, sculpture, installation and performance. Students have access to renovated studios and specialized facilities, alongside faculty mentorship, visiting artists and a collaborative graduate community.
Funding includes tuition remission, a stipend and subsidized health insurance. Students complete the degree with a thesis exhibition at UConn's William Benton Museum of Art. The application deadline is January 15, 2027.
By bringing studio practice and teaching together, the program can help prepare emerging artists to contribute to both creative communities and future classrooms.
