Sweden-based caller ID application Truecaller has proudly announced a significant achievement, surpassing 500 million monthly active users. This milestone underscores the app's growing popularity, especially in India, where it boasts over 350 million users, while also attracting 150 million users from various international markets.
In a remarkable growth trajectory, Truecaller added 50 million users in just 2025, effectively doubling its user base over the past five years. Earlier this year, the company reported having more than 450 million users, highlighting its rapid expansion.
Truecaller's CEO, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, emphasized the increasing demand for solutions to combat spam, scams, and unwanted calls. "Reaching 500 million users illustrates the scale of that need, and the trust people place in Truecaller to enhance communication safety," he stated.
The company's commitment to innovation is evident as it aims to continuously improve Truecaller with advanced technology and features designed to protect users throughout their communication experiences. Looking ahead, Truecaller is setting its sights on the ambitious goal of reaching 1 billion users.
Expanding its service offerings, Truecaller recently introduced a feature allowing users to designate an admin who can terminate calls on behalf of family members to prevent scams. Additionally, the company is exploring the use of artificial intelligence to screen and respond to calls, enhancing user security and convenience.
Truecaller is also testing AI capabilities to monitor disconnected calls, particularly when specific keywords related to scams are detected. This proactive approach aims to safeguard users from deceptive tactics employed by scammers.
While Truecaller continues to thrive, it faces challenges in India due to the new Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) system, which displays the name of the caller as registered with telecom networks. Nevertheless, the app's innovative features and user-centric approach position it well for future growth.
The remarkable growth of Truecaller not only signifies a shift in how people manage communication but also reflects a broader trend towards prioritizing security and trust in digital interactions. As technology continues to evolve, the potential for such applications to enhance user safety and streamline communication is limitless.
