TP-Link's Roam 6 travel routers are currently discounted on Amazon, offering travelers a way to connect several devices through one network when using hotel, rental-home or other public Wi-Fi.
The Roam 6 AX1500 is listed at $44.99, down from $59.99. The higher-capacity AX3000 costs $69.99, compared with its $79.98 regular price. Both models support Wi-Fi 6 and can share a single connection with devices such as phones, laptops and tablets, reducing the need to sign in separately on each one.
Choosing between the two models
The AX1500 offers speeds of up to 1,201 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 300 Mbps on 2.4GHz, and supports up to 60 connected devices. It also includes Gigabit Ethernet and USB tethering, making it a practical option for lighter travel needs.
For more capacity, the AX3000 supports up to 2,402 Mbps on 5GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4GHz, with a maximum of 80 connected devices. Its additional features include a 2.5Gbps WAN port and USB 3.0. Both routers support OpenVPN and WireGuard, allowing connected devices to use a VPN. These features cannot increase the speed of a weak internet connection, but can help manage devices on a suitable network.
As travel becomes more connected, compact routers like these may make it easier to bring a consistent, secure setup across different networks.
