Sony's WH-1000XM6 wireless headphones are listed for $378, down from $459.99--a saving of $81.99 and their lowest reported price. The model builds on the company's 1000X line, which has evolved through successive generations since 2016.
Adaptive audio and noise control
The XM6 has 12 microphones, compared with eight in the previous XM5 model. They support features including active noise cancellation, Adaptive Sound Control and Ambient Sound mode. With Adaptive Sound Control enabled, the headphones can adjust their settings as the listener moves between different environments.
A companion app offers customizable equalizer settings and displays the audio codec in use. Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours with noise cancellation on, or 40 hours with it off. A 3.5 mm audio jack also allows wired listening.
As headphones increasingly combine adaptive sound features with flexible listening options, models like the XM6 point toward a more personalized and context-aware audio experience.
