A high-refresh OLED display at a new low price
Amazon is listing Samsung's 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) for $999.99, a $300 reduction from its $1,299.99 list price. The deal brings the monitor to its lowest price so far, according to the information provided.
The G80SH pairs a 4K QD-OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, aiming to serve both fast-paced games and everyday desktop use. DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 support newer graphics hardware, while USB-C can deliver up to 98 watts of power to a compatible laptop. FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC compatibility are also included.
OLED's deep blacks and vivid HDR contrast can enhance darker games and cinematic content. Buyers should weigh that against potential VRR flicker in some scenes and the long-term risk of burn-in; the monitor includes screen-protection features, and Samsung says normal-use burn-in is covered by its warranty. The 4K, 240Hz performance is most useful for systems powerful enough to drive demanding games at high frame rates.
As high-refresh OLED displays become more accessible, they may increasingly bridge the gap between dedicated gaming screens and versatile everyday monitors.
