Sam Reid Reimagines Lestat as a Rock-Driven Vampire Icon

Sam Reid is taking his portrayal of Lestat in a bold new direction for the third season of AMC's The Vampire Lestat. This time, the character is not only a refined immortal but also a stage-ready rock star, which calls for a sharper, more intense physical presence.

Reid says he originally shaped Lestat as a lean, dancer-like figure in the first two seasons. For the new chapter, he has shifted toward a more feral energy, supported by a demanding routine of twice-daily workouts and a tailored diet while filming. The goal, he explains, is to keep the character sleek while giving him the force of someone built for the stage.

The production schedule adds another layer of complexity. Because the series often shoots at night, Reid sometimes trains in the early hours of the morning to stay aligned with filming. He describes the schedule as unusual, but part of the commitment required to bring the character's new identity to life.

He also shared an upper-body workout built around weighted chin-ups, hammer curls, close-grip dumbbell bench presses, skull crushers, cable pressdowns, cable curls, cable flyes, and cable crunches. The routine reflects the blend of strength, control, and performance needed for a character who must feel both elegant and powerful.

Reid's transformation shows how modern screen acting increasingly merges physical discipline with character design. As storytelling becomes more immersive, this kind of preparation may shape the future of performance-driven roles across television and film.
