New York gallery Salon 94 will open a permanent Paris space on October 18, establishing a year-round presence near the Palais Royal during Art Basel Paris. The 323-square-foot gallery at 30 Galerie de Montpensier will debut with a solo exhibition by artist Deborah Roberts, on view through November 28.
The gallery has been building connections in Paris through temporary exhibitions over the past three years. Its new location reflects the response to those presentations and the city's close relationship between art and design--both central to Salon 94's program.
Situated opposite the Jardin du Palais Royal, the intimate space is also close to major cultural institutions, including the Louvre, Fondation Cartier and Bourse de Commerce. Its scale is intended to give artists room to develop focused exhibitions and respond more quickly than at the gallery's larger New York venue.
Roberts's opening show will feature collage-based works, including What the water kept (2026), which gives the exhibition its title. The gallery plans to keep the space visible from the street around the clock, inviting passersby to encounter its program as part of the city.
Salon 94's permanent Paris address could help deepen exchange between artists, audiences and institutions, while giving the gallery a flexible platform for future exhibitions.
