Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery are preparing to operate under the corporate name Skydance once their planned merger is completed. The transaction, valued at approximately $110 billion, is expected to close on October 6.
The combined company would bring together two of Hollywood's most established studio ecosystems, alongside streaming services Paramount+ and HBO Max. Its entertainment portfolio would also include major television brands such as CBS, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central and Food Network.
A broader entertainment portfolio
Under the Skydance umbrella, Paramount and Warner Bros. are expected to retain their longstanding identities. David Ellison, Paramount's CEO and the founder of Skydance, said the new corporate name is designed to give the combined business a distinct identity while keeping both historic studio brands visible to audiences.
The group would oversee globally recognised storytelling franchises including The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, the DC Universe and Yellowstone. This expanded library could create new opportunities for film, television, streaming, games and consumer experiences.
The planned combination signals a new chapter for large-scale entertainment, where iconic studios, digital platforms and franchise-driven storytelling increasingly operate as connected creative ecosystems. If completed, Skydance could help shape how audiences discover and experience entertainment across formats in the years ahead.
