Following six remarkable years of fostering nearly 250 global fellows, the Onassis AiR program has established itself as a vibrant hub for interdisciplinary collaboration among local and international artists and researchers.
At the heart of this residency lies an emphasis on process, research, and experimentation. Participants are encouraged to immerse themselves in their creative journeys without the pressure of delivering a final product. The program serves as a gateway to the Onassis Culture ecosystem, offering customized mentoring and avenues for exploring future production, co-production, presentation options, and support for international project development.
This cycle, the program is accepting applications for a 10-week residency in Athens, Greece, scheduled from September 2026 to July 2027. A total of 30 residencies will be granted across various disciplines, including Visual Arts, Theater, Dance, Sound, Art & Advanced Technologies, Filmmaking, Applied Arts, and Curation, along with their hybrid forms.
This year, the program:
- Launches a new research and project development initiative in partnership with the Cavafy Archive.
- Maintains its focus on material-based practices and the broader applied arts sector, bolstered by its growth at Onassis Ready.
- Continues to offer technical and production assistance for performing arts and digital projects through dedicated Technical Residencies.
- Collaborates with Onassis ONX to provide access to a new studio within Onassis Ready, enhancing curatorial, development, and technical support.
- Increases the artist's fee and budget to address the challenging working conditions faced by art professionals in Greece and beyond.
Selected participants will receive an artist's fee, a research budget, accommodation, round-trip travel, mentoring access, and audiovisual equipment, among other resources. All participants will also engage in the Onassis AiR Open Days, a series of public events focused on creative processes rather than finished works.
