British AI cloud infrastructure company Nscale has secured $3.36 billion in pre-IPO convertible financing as it prepares for a planned U.S. public offering later this year.
The funding was led by Third Point and includes $2.36 billion available immediately. A further $1 billion commitment from existing investor Nvidia is expected to be received in mid-November. Once Nscale completes its IPO, the convertible notes are designed to become equity shares.
Scaling infrastructure for the AI era
The financing highlights the growing capital requirements behind high-performance AI computing. Nscale is building large-scale data center campuses to support the expanding demand for cloud-based AI workloads, with projects underway in Norway and West Virginia.
According to its IPO filing, Nscale has accumulated more than $103 billion in contracts since becoming an independent company from Arkon Energy two years ago. The company's model focuses on delivering specialized cloud capacity for organizations developing and deploying advanced artificial intelligence systems.
As AI moves from experimentation into wider commercial use, investments in dedicated computing infrastructure could shape a new generation of digital industry, cloud services and energy-aware data center design.
