Nscale appoints Fidji Simo to board as IPO plans gather pace

U.K.-based AI infrastructure startup Nscale has added former OpenAI, Meta and Instacart leader Fidji Simo to its board as it prepares for a possible public listing later this year.

Simo joins a board already shaped by prominent technology figures including Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker and Nick Clegg. The move comes as Nscale continues to position itself for growth in the fast-expanding AI data center market.

Simo previously served as CEO of AGI Deployment at OpenAI and earlier led Instacart through its 2023 IPO. She also spent more than a decade at Meta, where she managed the Facebook app, and currently serves on Shopify's board.

Nscale founder and CEO Josh Payne said Simo brings experience in scaling products and systems for global audiences, a skill set that matches the company's ambitions. Nscale designs, builds and operates AI data centers, and its valuation has risen sharply as demand for AI compute infrastructure accelerates.

As the company explores major pre-IPO financing, the addition of seasoned operators signals a broader push toward scale, governance and long-term platform strength. That trajectory could help define how the next generation of AI infrastructure is built and financed.
