Laytr Turns Online Finds Into a Private, Scheduled Personal Archive

Laytr helps users save articles, videos, recipes, PDFs and more in a private iCloud-synced archive, with reminders, collections and flexible export options.

Laytr Turns Online Finds Into a Private, Scheduled Personal Archive

Laytr is expanding the familiar "save for later" idea into a broader digital organization tool. The app lets users keep articles, recipes, videos, PDFs, screenshots, bookmarks and browser tabs in one place for future use.

A personal archive built around timing

Saved content is automatically grouped by format and can be arranged into themed collections called cases. Users can also assign a date to an item, allowing Laytr to send a reminder when it may be most relevant--whether for an event, a travel plan, a recipe or a reading list.

The service takes a privacy-first approach. Rather than storing archives on a central server, Laytr keeps saved material on the user's device and synchronizes it through iCloud across iPhone, iPad and Mac. No account is required, and the developer does not access users' saved collections.

Designed for ownership and flexibility

Created by Ontario-based independent developer Mostafa Talaat through Waitery Inc., Laytr also supports importing existing Pocket exports. The platform does not rely on personalized feeds, AI-generated summaries or automatic tagging, prioritizing direct user control over discovery features.

Laytr offers a free plan with space for up to 30 saved items. Paid options unlock full access through monthly, annual or lifetime plans. If a subscription ends, existing content remains available; users simply cannot add more material until they resubscribe or reduce their archive to the free-tier limit.

Archives can also be exported as a ZIP file, including readable Markdown and HTML versions of saved items, notes, tags, dates and collections. By combining local storage, reminders and flexible export tools, Laytr points toward a future in which people can build more portable and private digital memory systems.
