Jack Altman has officially joined Benchmark as a general partner, marking a significant development in the venture capital landscape. Previously, Altman led his own venture firm, Alt Capital, which he established in 2024. Under his leadership, the firm successfully raised a $150 million Fund I early in 2024, followed by an impressive $274 million Fund II just a year later.
Reflecting on his journey, Altman described the last two years at Alt Capital as "the most rewarding" of his career, emphasizing his passion for innovation and teamwork. Throughout his tenure, Alt Capital invested in over 52 companies, including notable names like Rippling, Antares Nuclear, and CompLabs.
While the future of Alt Capital remains uncertain, it has been confirmed that several of his colleagues will be joining him at Benchmark, which has traditionally operated with a flat structure comprising primarily general partners. Altman also plans to maintain his board positions with the companies he supported during his time at Alt Capital.
In addition to his venture capital endeavors, Altman is known as the founder of the HR platform Lattice, where he continues to serve as chair.
