Interactive Archive Showcases the Joy of 'Unruly Play'

"Play is a means of granting permission," states Vitor Freire, co-founder of the Amsterdam-based studio Imagination of Things. "It allows us to question the status quo, explore the realms of the yet-to-exist, and bridge gaps between individuals who might not otherwise connect."

In an exciting new initiative, Freire and co-founder Monique Grimord have curated an extensive collection featuring 169 diverse artworks, designs, games, and more, all aimed at sparking imagination and joy. This collection includes notable pieces such as Rael San Fratello's acclaimed "Teeter-Totter Wall," the innovative Wind Phone project, and the journey of a 12-foot puppet known as Little Amal. The project, titled Unruly Play, serves as a multi-decade archive of participatory art, public installations, and digital innovations that foster surprise and community engagement.

This fully interactive archive allows users to search by theme or use a shuffle feature to discover new content. For those interested in exploring the transformative power of play further, a compendium of artist-designed spaces is also available.
