Hoomanely, a Palo Alto startup, is developing a smart feeding bowl and AI platform designed to help pet owners notice early signs of illness in dogs. Its EverBowl system tracks food and water intake, eating speed, chewing and swallowing sounds, facial thermals, and oral movements to build a health baseline for each pet.
The platform then compares new data against that baseline and highlights sustained changes through an app and long-term reports. Owners can also add observations manually, helping the system stay aligned with a dog's routine and health context.
According to co-founder and CEO Sai Supriya Sharath, the feeding bowl offers a consistent environment for monitoring because dogs repeat the same behavior in the same place every day. Hoomanely says appetite, hydration, and oral comfort can shift early in response to dental issues, digestive problems, endocrine changes, or other health concerns.
The company says its 18-month beta phase collected around 5 million data points from more than 80 dogs. In testing, the system flagged changes that later matched a chipped tooth and a case of tick fever, suggesting the approach may help owners seek veterinary care sooner.
Hoomanely currently offers the bowl and app through a $29 monthly subscription and says it has shipped about 50 devices so far. The company is also preparing veterinary studies to measure how accurately its alerts perform across larger groups of dogs.
Next on the roadmap are EverSense, a wearable for movement and rest tracking, and EverHub, a platform that can connect with third-party pet devices. With more data and broader testing, Hoomanely could help shape a more proactive future for animal wellness.
