Honor has introduced its groundbreaking "Robot phone," featuring a unique movable camera arm. This exciting device was first hinted at earlier this year and is set to make its debut in the latter half of 2023, coinciding with the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
This innovative phone is designed to interact autonomously, showcasing a personality that enables it to respond with playful "head shakes" and even dance to music. Users can communicate with the device through text and voice, as demonstrated in a video where the robot suggests outfits by nodding or shaking its head.
Equipped with a remarkable 200-megapixel camera mounted on a three-axis gimbal, the phone promises exceptional stabilization for both photos and videos. The camera's capabilities include a Super Steady mode for video capture, along with the Spinshot feature, which allows for cinematic shots by rotating the camera up to 180 degrees.
Additionally, the robotic camera enhances video calling experiences by utilizing advanced AI object tracking, ensuring that users remain in focus during conversations. This functionality is akin to Apple's Center Stage but promises even more impressive performance.
Honor has engineered a custom micro motor to facilitate the robotic camera's movements, applying techniques borrowed from foldable phone technology to ensure durability. The materials used for the robotic arm boast an impressive tensile strength of 2800 MPa, similar to those found in the Honor Magic V6's hinge.
In addition to the 'Robot phone,' Honor has also launched the Honor Magic V6 foldable smartphone, which features a robust 6,600 mAh battery, alongside the Honor MagicPad 4 tablet and the Honor MagicBook 14 laptop during this event.
