Fox has finalized its $22 billion acquisition of Roku, bringing the streaming platform under its ownership and expanding its presence in connected television.
Founded in 2002, Roku reaches more than 100 million households. Fox expects that audience to support more precise advertising, strengthen its position in the connected TV market and lessen its dependence on traditional television distribution.
Fox says the combined business ranks as the third-largest television company in the United States by viewership. Roku founder Anthony Wood said the company's focus on improving the TV experience and developing new products will continue, now with Fox's resources behind it.
The deal was completed ahead of the companies' original expectation of a first-half 2027 close. By combining Roku's household reach with Fox's media business, the acquisition could help shape how audiences access television and how advertisers connect with them.
