Firefox for iOS now offers a built-in ad blocking option, giving mobile users a cleaner browsing experience after its experimental phase moved into a wider rollout. The feature is designed to reduce third-party ad networks, trackers, pop-ups, and overlays at the network level.
Mozilla notes that the tool does not remove every ad. Sponsored results in search engines such as Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo can still appear, and some promoted content on Firefox's Home and New Tab pages remains visible. Ads outside the EasyList filter may also be unaffected.
How to activate it
The feature is turned off by default. To switch it on, open the iPhone app, tap the three-dot menu, then go to Settings > Browsing and enable Ad Blocker. Users can also access the option from the site menu, where the status is shown at a glance.
With more browsers adding privacy-focused tools on mobile, this update points to a future where users have greater control over how they experience the web.
