Ferrari's First EV Finds Strong Early Demand

Ferrari's first electric model, the Luce, is proving that early online skepticism does not always reflect market reality. Unveiled in May, the five-seat EV drew mixed reactions for its design, but buyer interest has moved in a different direction.

According to a report cited by the Financial Times, Ferrari reached its annual sales target for the Luce in just two months. The company had aimed to sell just under 500 units of the €555,000 model, and early indications suggest a notable share of those orders may come from China, where sleek, high-performance electric sedans are especially popular.

The Luce was shaped in part by Jony Ive and his design studio, LoveFrom, blending Ferrari's familiar cues with a new electric identity. While some observers focused on its styling, the market response suggests that Ferrari's brand power and loyal customer base remain decisive advantages.

Ferrari sold more than 13,000 cars last year, a strong result for a manufacturer centered on premium, high-priced vehicles. For many buyers, the appeal is not only performance, but also the chance to own a practical Ferrari that enters a new era of mobility without losing the marque's signature character.

Early test impressions also point to a driving experience that stays true to Ferrari's reputation. With demand already ahead of expectations, the Luce may become an important reference point for how luxury automakers transition into electric performance. Its momentum could help shape the next chapter of premium EV design and desirability.
