Feather Robotics, a humanoid robotics startup founded in 2025, is developing a modular platform designed to make real-world robot applications more accessible to developers and businesses.
Rather than pursuing a fully autonomous general-purpose humanoid from day one, the company is focusing on deployable hardware and adaptable software. Its approach aims to give developers a practical foundation for building robots tailored to specific environments and tasks.
A customizable robotics toolkit
Feather's system enables users to adjust physical components, including arm configurations, according to operational needs. The robots can also run AI models from several robotics software providers, allowing teams to select the intelligence layer that best fits their applications.
The company says its machines are already being used in settings such as Japanese restaurants and scientific laboratories. These early deployments reflect a growing interest in robots that can support structured, repeatable activities in professional environments.
Co-founded by Hoa Mai and former Tesla Model 3 engineer Parsa Bakhtiari, Feather envisions its platform as an "Android of robotics": a common hardware and software base on which many companies can create specialized physical AI products.
Designed for wider adoption
Feather has begun commercial sales and reports more than $1 million in revenue. Its humanoid robot is priced at around $30,000, positioning the system as a potentially accessible option for organizations exploring automation beyond large-scale industrial deployments.
The startup previously raised a $7.6 million pre-seed round led by Gradient Ventures. Following field testing and product refinements, Feather is preparing for a broader product launch.
As robotics platforms become easier to customize, they could help expand the number of practical physical AI applications across hospitality, research, manufacturing and everyday services.
