ART RESTITUTION INITIATIVE. French lawmakers have taken a significant step by passing a bill aimed at facilitating the return of art pieces taken during the colonial period, as reported by Agence France-Presse. If the National Assembly approves this legislation, it will bring France closer to honoring a commitment made by Emmanuel Macron in 2017 to restore African cultural heritage. French senator Catherine Morin-Desailly emphasized that the goal is not to deplete French museums but to respond authentically to the past without denial. In a parallel effort, Switzerland has appointed former president Simonetta Sommaruga to lead a new panel focused on assessing claims related to artworks taken during the Nazi era and colonial times, according to the Art Newspaper. Andrea Raschèr, a consultant, stated, "We have finally moved from discussion to action after over 25 years of delay."

The corporation will also curate an art collection for the site. Bea Alvarado, COO of the Frida Kahlo Corporation, remarked, "Frida Kahlo was meant to be lived, not just admired on walls."
