Swedish electric and autonomous trucking company Einride is deepening its energy infrastructure strategy with an all-stock acquisition of charging software startup Flipturn, valued at $38 million. The move marks Einride's first acquisition since becoming a public company.
The deal is designed to strengthen Einride's ability to scale electric freight operations by pairing its trucking platform with smarter charging management. Flipturn, founded in 2022 and backed by $15.5 million in venture funding, has built software that connects with chargers through the Open Charge Point Protocol, the common standard used across the industry.
Its platform helps operators monitor charger performance, track battery status, analyze route data, and coordinate energy use with on-site solar and storage systems. Flipturn will continue with its current team after the transaction closes later this month.
Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli described the acquisition as an important step in the company's U.S. growth plan. The deal also moves Einride closer to a more integrated model, combining electric trucks, charging software, and fleet operations in one ecosystem.
Best known for its cabless autonomous pods, Einride now generates much of its business from a fleet of 200 heavy-duty electric trucks serving major brands across Europe, North America, and the United Arab Emirates. With this latest move, the company is positioning itself as a broader logistics technology platform for the next phase of freight electrification. The development could help shape a more connected and efficient future for electric transport.
