Y Combinator-backed Circleback is opening its platform to a wider audience with a new free tier, a move designed to help the meeting note-taking startup grow in an increasingly competitive market.
The free plan allows users to transcribe unlimited meetings, while keeping transcript history available for the last 30 days. It also includes meeting recording, mobile and Apple Watch apps, AI-powered transcript search, and integrations with Linear and Slack.
For users who want broader capabilities, including unlimited history, full integrations, and API and MCP access, paid plans begin at $14 per month when billed annually. Before this update, Circleback offered no free option and its pricing started at $20.83 per month.
Founded in 2023 by Ali Haghani and Kevin Jacyna, the company raised $2.5 million in 2024 and says it has remained profitable since then. Circleback also says its lean team has helped it reach strong revenue efficiency, with run-rate revenue above $1 million per employee.
According to Haghani, the new tier is meant to reduce drop-off from short trials and give more people a chance to experience the product. The company says it is not actively seeking new funding right now, but remains open to it if future growth requires additional capital.
This shift reflects how AI productivity tools are evolving toward broader access, and it may help shape a future where intelligent meeting workflows become standard across teams.
