Australia's next breakout startup will be chosen by a high-profile judging panel

TechCrunch Startup Battlefield is heading to Australia, with eight early-stage startups set to pitch live on August 19 at Stripe Tour Sydney. The event will bring together investors, media, and the local tech community, while three teams will leave with prizes and one will secure a direct path to TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 in San Francisco.

Three judges, one decisive stage

The selection panel reflects the mix of startup experience and fintech expertise that often shapes standout companies. Jasmine Liew, Head of Startup & Investor Partnerships for APAC at Stripe, brings a deep understanding of how products scale through modern payment infrastructure and global commerce.

Brendan Hill, an angel investor and venture partner at Ten13, adds the perspective of an active backer who evaluates both market potential and team execution. His role centers on identifying whether a founder is ready for the next stage of growth.

Jarron Aizen, founder and CEO of Hapana, contributes the view of someone who has built a company in Australia and understands the realities of turning an idea into a durable business. Together, the judges represent a strong cross-section of the ecosystem.

What finalists can gain

The top prize includes $15,000 in Stripe fee credits and automatic entry into Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. Second and third place will receive $5,000 and $2,000 in Stripe credits, respectively. Beyond the awards, every finalist gains visibility, feedback, and direct access to founders, operators, and investors in the room.

With a history of launching more than 1,700 companies worldwide, Startup Battlefield continues to serve as a launchpad for ambitious founders. This Sydney edition could spotlight the next wave of Australian innovation and help connect it to a global stage. The event may shape how emerging startups in the region grow, scale, and reach international markets in the years ahead.
