AI research organization Anthropic announced a significant new agreement with Google and Broadcom aimed at enhancing its processing capabilities for the Claude AI models. This strategic collaboration reflects the surging demand for Anthropic's AI solutions.
The expanded partnership will leverage Google Cloud's advanced tensor processing units (TPUs), which are specialized AI chips. This agreement builds on a previous deal established in October 2025, which provided over a gigawatt of compute capacity.
According to Anthropic, this additional compute capacity is set to become operational in 2027. While specific details were not disclosed, a recent filing from Broadcom indicated that the deal encompasses 3.5 gigawatts of compute power.
Most of this new capacity will be located in the United States, furthering Anthropic's commitment to invest $50 billion in U.S. compute infrastructure.
Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, "This groundbreaking collaboration with Google and Broadcom continues our disciplined approach to scaling infrastructure. We are building the necessary capacity to accommodate the exponential growth in our customer base while enabling Claude to push the boundaries of AI development."
Demand for the Claude models has surged recently, driven by enterprise clients and despite challenges posed by the U.S. Defense Department labeling Anthropic as a supply chain risk. The company also recently completed a $30 billion Series G funding round, raising its valuation to $380 billion.
Anthropic's current revenue run rate has reached $30 billion, a remarkable increase from the $9 billion reported at the close of 2025. The company now serves over 1,000 business customers, each spending more than $1 million annually.
