Affordable 4K streaming upgrade
Amazon has reduced the price of its Fire TV Stick 4K from $59.99 to $29.99, a 50% discount. The purchase also includes a 90-day Amazon Music trial. The compact, 3.6-inch device can bring 4K streaming to an older television or offer an alternative to a slower smart TV.
It supports Wi-Fi 6 and HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG formats on compatible screens. Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are not supported, however. The Alexa voice remote can search for shows, open apps and control compatible smart-home devices, with dedicated streaming-service shortcuts.
The Fire TV home screen features ads and recommendations, and the device does not support Apple AirPlay or Google Cast. For viewers who are comfortable with Amazon's interface, it offers a small, responsive streaming option at a lower price. Affordable streaming devices like this can help extend the usefulness of existing televisions as home entertainment continues to evolve.
