Adit Singh, one of the early investors behind Cerebras, has taken a new role at Mayfield as an infrastructure partner. The move adds a seasoned chip-focused investor to a firm with deep roots in semiconductors and enterprise technology.
Singh first gained attention at Foundation Capital, where he helped source and lead the initial funding round for Cerebras before the company grew into one of the most closely watched names in AI hardware. He later founded Neotribe Ventures in 2017 and went on to work at Cota Capital.
At Mayfield, Singh will focus on hardware, infrastructure software, cybersecurity, and physical AI. He said the firm's semiconductor track record was a major reason for joining, pointing to investments such as Upscale AI and Lumilens.
With training in electrical engineering and chip design, Singh said he approaches technology from the application layer down to the transistor level. That perspective, he noted, helped him recognize Cerebras' potential years ago.
Singh also highlighted the changing scale of seed-stage infrastructure investing, where larger funds can now support ambitious technical startups with bigger early checks. Mayfield, which manages about $3 billion in assets, is positioned to compete in that market.
For Mayfield, the addition strengthens a team already familiar with Singh's work across multiple boards. The partnership reflects how specialized expertise is becoming increasingly valuable in the next wave of computing innovation, shaping the future of intelligent infrastructure.
