A feline cast spanning cinema history
From memorable characters such as Mr. Bigglesworth and Thackery Binx to cats in supporting roles, feline performers have made their mark on movie history. A24's new book, The Encyclopedia of Movie Cats, gathers these screen appearances into an expansive catalog.
The collection features more than 700 cats across 1,900 film stills, recognizing the many ways cats have appeared on screen--as central characters, companions and scene-stealing presences.
By bringing these performances together, the book offers a fresh way to explore cinema through its feline cast. Such collections can help preserve overlooked details of film history and inspire new ways of appreciating the art of storytelling.
