X launches new video editor to support original creator content

X has launched a new iOS video editor with multilingual captions and green-screen tools, aiming to boost original creator content and improve video publishing.

X has introduced a new video editor and recorder for its iOS app, aiming to help creators publish more original material on the platform. The update adds multilingual caption overlays with customizable styling, plus green-screen tools that can use photos from a phone's camera roll or other X posts.

According to X product lead Nikita Bier, the goal is to make video creation more practical and to encourage content that is made specifically for X rather than recycled from elsewhere. He said more editor updates are planned in the coming weeks.

The move comes as short-form video continues to shape social media behavior and creator strategy. X says video posts already account for nearly half of its impressions, making editing tools a central part of its product direction. The company also wants to strengthen incentives for creators as competition remains intense across major platforms.

Still, a stronger editor is only one piece of the puzzle. For creators to build sustainable audiences, platforms need reliable discovery, clear monetization paths, and tools that protect original work. X is also working through broader platform quality challenges, including spam and bot activity, while rebuilding its Android app.

With this rollout, X is signaling a wider shift toward creator-first features that could shape how original video content is produced and shared across social platforms in the future.
