Writer Unveils Palmyra X6 to Help Enterprises Reduce AI Token Costs

AI companies are increasingly focused on a clear priority: delivering stronger performance while keeping usage costs under control. Writer has stepped into that conversation with a new flagship model, Palmyra X6, designed for enterprise teams that want efficient results without unnecessary token spending.

The company says Palmyra X6 is built as a post-training version of Z.ai's open-source GLM-5.2 model and is tailored for deployment-ready use cases. Alongside the model, Writer has also upgraded its agentic harness, the system layer that helps coordinate multi-step AI tasks more efficiently.

According to Writer, the combined improvements could reduce costs by up to 50% for basic tasks. The company's internal research also suggests that harness optimization can be a powerful lever on its own, with efficiency gains across different models averaging around 40% in testing.

Writer says the new setup will remain model-agnostic, allowing clients to use Palmyra X6 alongside other Writer models or external systems connected through Azure and Amazon Bedrock. CEO May Habib described the shift as part of a broader enterprise demand for predictable, lower-cost AI operations.

With Palmyra X6 and the upgraded harness now available to clients, Writer is positioning cost efficiency as a defining feature of practical AI adoption. This direction may shape the next phase of enterprise AI, where smarter orchestration becomes as important as model size.
