WhatsApp is working to restore access after a number of users reported that their accounts were suddenly placed under review and temporarily blocked. The issue surfaced across social platforms, where affected people said they could no longer open their chats as usual.
When users tried to sign in, the app reportedly showed a message explaining that account activity and device information were being checked to confirm compliance with the platform's terms. In many cases, the notice said a result would arrive within 24 hours.
Meta, which owns WhatsApp, confirmed that it is addressing the problem and has already taken steps to bring back affected accounts. The company said its systems are designed to detect misuse and protect users, but it also noted that automated checks can sometimes flag legitimate accounts by mistake.
With more than 3 billion monthly active users worldwide, even a limited disruption can be felt at scale. While Meta did not share details about the cause or whether the issue was limited to specific regions, the response highlights how essential fast recovery is for modern messaging platforms.
