In response to ongoing federal funding cuts affecting the nonprofit sector, the Vilcek Foundation has launched a new initiative to support organizations that uplift immigrant contributions. This effort aligns with the foundation's mission as it marks its 25th anniversary.
The foundation is now accepting applications for the 2026 Vilcek Foundation Grants, which are available to nonprofit organizations dedicated to celebrating immigrant contributions across arts, sciences, culture, and society. Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded, with applications due by April 30, 2026.
Established in 1999, the Vilcek Foundation aims to enhance its impact while honoring immigrant contributions in the United States and promoting appreciation for both the arts and sciences.
"Our goal with this grantmaking is to diversify our funding reach and foster partnerships with institutions across all 50 states, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands," stated Chief Programs Officer Shinnie Kim.
Since its inception, the Vilcek Foundation has awarded nearly $7.6 million to nonprofit organizations in 32 states and Guam. Recent funding has supported various programs, including initiatives at Utah State University, the Mint Museum of Art, and Graywolf Press, all of which highlight the work of immigrant artists and thought leaders. This includes a range of projects from bold exhibitions to professional development for immigrant and refugee farmers.
Grants Officer Liz Boylan emphasized, "We view our grants as investments in organizations that distinguish themselves through innovative approaches and impactful outcomes that resonate with the communities they serve."
Nonprofits interested in applying for the 2026 Vilcek Foundation Grant must complete their registration and submit their applications through the foundation's grant portal by 11:59 PM (ET) on April 30, 2026.
