According to a recent report, the venture capital landscape has witnessed a dramatic shift, with a staggering $189 billion invested globally in February alone. This figure marks a significant leap, as AI startups captured an impressive $171 billion, accounting for 90% of the total capital raised during the month.
This remarkable influx of funding is more than triple the amount spent on venture capital in January, underscoring the growing interest and confidence in AI technologies. The lion's share of this investment came from three major players: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo, each securing monumental funding rounds.
Leading the charge, OpenAI raised a historic $110 billion, positioning itself as one of the largest private funding rounds ever recorded, with a company valuation soaring to $730 billion. Following closely, Anthropic secured $30 billion in its Series G funding, bringing its valuation to $380 billion. Meanwhile, Waymo attracted $16 billion, achieving a valuation of $126 billion. Collectively, these three companies accounted for an astonishing 83% of the venture capital raised in February.
The combined total raised by OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo last month represents a significant portion of the overall $425 billion venture capital expenditures recorded in 2025, highlighting the pivotal role these companies play in shaping the future of technology and innovation.
