Uber is extending its partnership with OpenAI, making ChatGPT Work available across its global workforce of approximately 30,000 employees. The company had first tested the enterprise AI tool with a group of 1,000 staff members earlier this year.
During the pilot, employees from areas including finance, operations and product explored ways to apply the tool to everyday tasks. Around 80% of early adopters were not engineers. Their use cases included analyzing operational data, adapting training materials for different markets and languages, and creating interactive dashboards.
Uber plans to let teams experiment with the technology rather than prescribe a single approach. The company will assess how employees use ChatGPT Work, which workflows they build and whether it helps them work more effectively. The results will inform how Uber adopts AI across its business.
The broader rollout highlights how enterprise AI tools may become part of work across a wide range of roles, not just technical teams, as organizations learn where they can deliver the most value.
