Tilda Swinton to Perform at Guggenheim Bilbao in June

Tilda Swinton will perform "House of Gestures" at Guggenheim Bilbao on June 5 and 6, a collaboration exploring art and emotion, inspired by Dom Pérignon's heritage.

Acclaimed actress and performance artist Tilda Swinton is set to showcase her latest work at the Guggenheim Bilbao next month. The performance, titled House of Gestures, is a collaboration with fashion historian and curator Olivier Saillard.

Commissioned by Dom Pérignon, this innovative piece is described as "an original work conceived around gesture, presence, and transformation," with a special focus on the museum's atrium as its backdrop. The event will be open to the public, with prior registration available on the museum's website.

Scheduled for June 5 and 6, House of Gestures is part of Dom Pérignon's "Creation is an eternal journey" series. This initiative reflects the champagne producer's commitment to fostering creativity and engaging with iconic artists.

The performance draws inspiration from Dom Pérignon's deep-rooted connection to its origins, specifically the 7th-century Benedicte Abbey in Hautvillers, France. According to a statement, the work will allow the audience to traverse "space and time" to evoke emotions, emphasizing the significance of place in artistic expression.

Swinton expressed her vision for the performance, stating, "With performance, we like to create a free zone where something honest and original can occur and become a shared experience in real time. A great champagne has much in common with this idea. Both are rooted in space and authentic presence, not representation or interpretation."

This performance promises to be a unique exploration of the intersection between art and the senses, inviting audiences to engage with the themes of presence and transformation in a captivating setting.
