Meta is expanding parental supervision tools to Threads, giving parents and guardians more ways to manage teen activity on the platform through Family Center, the company's control hub across its apps.
The new options let adults review how much time a teen spends on Threads each day over the past week, see average usage, set daily limits, and pause access during chosen days or hours. For teens using multiple devices, the limit applies across all sessions.
Meta is also adding night-time protections. Notifications are muted and auto-replies are enabled by default between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., while parents can further restrict access during those hours. Another setting allows guardians to control who can tag a teen in posts.
Threads already includes teen-focused safeguards such as private accounts and content limits. With this update, parents of users under 16 can also decide whether those default settings can be relaxed.
The rollout begins next week in the U.S., with a global launch planned by the end of the year. As social platforms continue to evolve, tools like these may help shape a more balanced digital experience for younger users in the future.
