Tesla is set to broaden the reach of its innovative robotaxi service by introducing it to the cities of Dallas and Houston. This exciting announcement was made via a social media update from the company, stating that "Robotaxi is now rolling out in Dallas & Houston 🤠." The post featured a brief video showcasing Tesla vehicles operating autonomously, without the need for human drivers or monitors in the front seat.

With this expansion, Tesla now operates its robotaxi service in three Texas cities, following its initial launch in Austin last year. The company began offering rides without safety drivers in January 2026, marking a significant milestone in autonomous transportation. In a recent filing, Tesla disclosed that its Austin robotaxis had been involved in 14 incidents since their introduction, highlighting the challenges that come with pioneering technology.

In addition to its fully autonomous services, Tesla also provides a more traditional ride service with human drivers in the San Francisco Bay Area. However, the number of robotaxis currently operational in Dallas and Houston appears to be limited. Data from the Robotaxi Tracker indicates that only one vehicle has been recorded in each of these new markets, a stark contrast to the 46 active vehicles logged in Austin.

This strategic rollout underscores Tesla's commitment to advancing autonomous vehicle technology and reshaping urban mobility. As the company continues to refine its robotaxi service, the implications for future transportation are profound, potentially paving the way for a new era of sustainable and efficient travel.
