Tesla's new self-driving app enhances user experience with subscription ease and detailed statistics, fostering greater engagement with Full Self-Driving technology.

Tesla Enhances Full Self-Driving Experience with New App Features

Tesla is launching an innovative self-driving application designed to streamline the process for users to subscribe to its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software while providing insightful statistics on their usage. This new app introduces features like multi-day usage streaks, adding a playful dimension to the driver assistance experience.

The company recently showcased the revamped self-driving app and its array of new functionalities in a post on X. This update is part of Tesla's broader software enhancement efforts.

Launched in beta in late 2020, Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system has undergone continuous updates aimed at enhancing performance and reliability. Available for a monthly fee of $99, this advanced driver assistance technology manages various driving tasks, including steering, lane changes, and parking, while still necessitating active driver supervision.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, is positioning the company as a leader in AI and robotics, with FSD being a crucial aspect of this vision. One of Musk's ambitious targets is to achieve "10 million active FSD subscriptions" by 2035, which is tied to his substantial compensation package.

While the newly redesigned app may seem like a minor addition, it plays a significant role in promoting FSD adoption. Previously, Tesla owners could subscribe to FSD through their vehicle's touchscreen or mobile app, requiring multiple steps to complete the process. The new app simplifies this with a one-tap subscription option, although it is currently limited to Tesla vehicles equipped with the A14 chip, also known as FSD Hardware 4.0, which began shipping in January 2023.

Upon accessing the updated app, users will find a wealth of statistics that surpass what is currently available to FSD subscribers. Presently, users see the total miles driven compared to the percentage driven using FSD. The new update will include visual representations, such as bar charts for FSD usage, and will track user "streaks" for consecutive days of usage.

The FSD (Supervised) system is accessible in several countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and the United States. Recently, the Dutch regulator RDW granted approval for FSD after rigorous evaluation and testing.
