Telegram App Introduces Fresh Design and Unique Features

Telegram has unveiled a fresh design for its app along with unique features, including gift crafting and streamlined group chat ownership transfers, enhancing user experience.

For users of the Telegram messaging platform, exciting updates are on the horizon. This week, the company unveiled a series of enhancements, prominently featuring a revamped design for both Android and iOS applications. Android users can expect a comprehensive redesign, while iPhone users will notice several new user interface elements that enhance their chatting experience.

A Fresh Look for Telegram on Mobile

The most significant changes stem from user interface improvements, especially for Android devices. Telegram has implemented a "fully redesigned interface" aimed at streamlining navigation and making it more intuitive. The underlying code for the interface has been completely restructured to achieve these objectives. Notable changes include a new bottom navigation bar similar to iOS, allowing users to easily switch between chats, settings, and profiles. If users find the new interface overwhelming or battery-draining, adjustments can be made via Settings > Power Saving.

While the iOS app received updates too, they differ from the Android enhancements. Telegram has integrated more of Apple's "Liquid Glass" design language into the iOS app, which includes a refreshed media viewer, improved sticker and emoji pack previews, and updated context menus within user profiles for message selection.

Easier Group Chat Ownership Transfer

In this latest update, if a group chat owner departs, ownership will automatically pass to one of the group's existing admins after a week. However, the outgoing owner can select a preferred admin if they wish to do so, as Telegram now provides an option to designate a new admin upon leaving the group. Additionally, current admins can transfer ownership at any time, even without leaving the group.

More Colorful Telegram Bots

For developers creating bots for Telegram, a small yet impactful change has been introduced: the ability to incorporate colors and emojis into the bot buttons. While not a groundbreaking update, this feature can help users differentiate options quickly.

New Message Shortcut for iPad Users

For those using Telegram on iPad, a handy new feature has been added: users can now send messages using the "Command + Enter" shortcut.

Crafting Gifts in Telegram

And here comes the unique feature: Telegram has expanded its gifting system, allowing users to "craft" gifts. Initially introduced as a way to send gifts, users can now combine existing gifts into new "Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary" versions. By merging up to four gifts, users can enhance the likelihood of obtaining desired attributes in the crafted gift. While this may not be a typical expectation from a messaging app, it adds an intriguing layer to the Telegram experience.
