TCL's QM8L Mini-LED TV series is drawing attention during October's major retail promotions, with the 65-inch model listed at $1,077.99, down from $2,499.99. Larger 85-inch and 98-inch versions are also offered at reduced prices.
Built for bright rooms and immersive viewing
The QM8L pairs a slim Zero Border design with high-output Mini-LED illumination. TCL rates the display for up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness, while independent testing measured more than 3,500 nits on the 65-inch version. This level of light output is designed to preserve detail in HDR scenes and maintain visibility in sunlit living spaces.
Its panel uses up to 4,000 local dimming zones, supported by Halo Control technology to reduce light spill around bright objects. The result aims to deliver deeper contrast and more precise highlights, bringing Mini-LED performance closer to the visual depth typically associated with OLED displays.
Gaming, streaming and sound in one screen
For gaming setups, the QM8L supports a native 144Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate technology and four HDMI 2.1 connections capable of receiving 4K content at 144Hz. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support expand its compatibility with films and streaming services, while Google TV organizes apps and includes Gemini voice features.
The integrated Bang & Olufsen audio system also supports Dolby Atmos, offering a more substantial built-in sound experience than many televisions, although dedicated audio equipment can still provide greater bass and positional detail.
As advanced display technologies reach broader price points, large-screen home entertainment could become more accessible for gaming, cinema and connected living spaces.
