Synthesia is broadening its enterprise AI vision beyond video creation and into interactive skill-building. The British startup has introduced Roleplay Sessions, a new training format that lets employees rehearse real workplace conversations with an AI avatar that responds in real time and evaluates performance.
The tool is designed for scenarios such as sales pitches, performance reviews, customer support exchanges, and other high-stakes interactions. Instead of simply watching a lesson, users actively practice, receive feedback, and are scored against a structured rubric.
Roleplay Sessions is the first release under Synthesia's wider Sessions platform, which the company plans to extend to areas like job interviews and candidate screening. The move reflects a growing shift in enterprise AI: companies are increasingly looking for systems that can demonstrate measurable outcomes, not just generate content.
CEO and co-founder Victor Riparbelli says the strongest learning happens through practice, not passive consumption. Synthesia is also positioning the product as a deeper business intelligence layer, combining avatar and voice technology with performance data, analytics, and training insights.
Early adopters already include major commercial organizations, and the most common use cases are sales enablement and leadership development. Customers can build programs themselves or work with Synthesia's consultants to create tailored training experiences using existing company materials.
For now, the product is aimed at enterprises, but Synthesia expects broader access for smaller businesses and educational settings as AI costs continue to fall. The development points toward a future where training tools are judged less by presentation and more by the skills they help unlock.
