Spotify's new running mode brings AI-powered music and audio cues to workouts, giving Premium iOS users personalized pacing options across multiple countries.

Spotify introduces a running mode for personalized workout playlists

Spotify has rolled out a new running mode in its mobile app, designed for listeners who want music that adapts to the rhythm of a workout. The feature matches tracks to different phases of a run and can also generate audio cues that support pacing.

Available to Premium subscribers, the tool is located in Fitness Hub and offers 25 presets. Users can choose workout styles such as interval runs, steady runs, or pyramid sessions, then fine-tune duration, beats per minute, and music preferences for a more tailored experience.

The feature builds on Spotify's ongoing work with AI-powered personalization, especially the prompted playlist tools it has been testing over the past year. The company says many listeners already use these options for fitness-focused listening, helping shape the new mode's design.

Spotify also expanded its fitness-related offerings earlier this year through a collaboration with Peloton, reinforcing its push into active-lifestyle audio. For now, running mode is available in English to Premium users on iOS in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden.

As digital audio becomes more adaptive, features like this may help turn everyday workouts into more immersive and personalized experiences.
