This approach not only benefits bookstores but also simplifies the purchasing process for users. To buy a physical book through the Spotify app, users can navigate to an audiobook, select a button labeled Add to your bookshelf at home, and proceed to checkout on Bookshop.org.

While it's still unclear whether Spotify will profit directly from these sales, the company expresses excitement about the positive impact its platform can have on local bookstores. Even without a profit motive, driving sales away from Amazon would be a significant achievement for Spotify.

Syncing Your Physical Book with a Spotify Audiobook

To utilize Page Match, users simply open a supported audiobook in the Spotify app and tap Page Match. By scanning the relevant page, they can easily jump to the corresponding point in the audiobook, or save it for future reference.

After finishing an audiobook, users can return to their physical book by scanning the page again, allowing for a smooth reading experience. This innovative feature relies on computer vision technology rather than AI, ensuring a straightforward syncing process.

Page Match is available for all audiobook listeners on Spotify, with Premium subscribers enjoying additional benefits. Users only need to ensure their Spotify app is updated to access this exciting new feature.
