Soybean Prices Decline on March 2, 2026

On March 2, 2026, the agricultural market experienced notable shifts, particularly in soybean prices. May soybeans ended the trading day down by 6¾ cents, settling at $11.64 per bushel. In parallel, May corn saw a decrease of 2¾ cents, closing at $4.45¾ per bushel.

The wheat market also faced declines, with May CBOT wheat dropping by 14¼ cents to $5.77¼ per bushel. Kansas City wheat fell by 5¾ cents, reaching $5.74¾ per bushel, while Minneapolis wheat decreased by 2¾ cents, closing at $6.10.

Market analyst Karl Setzer from Consus Ag Consulting noted that although corn, soybeans, and wheat showed strength in overnight trading, substantial losses occurred as the day progressed. This downturn was attributed to the withdrawal of managed funds from various markets, influenced by geopolitical tensions following the recent U.S./Israel military actions in Iran. Setzer emphasized that this situation has created uncertainty in exports, especially as the U.S. remains the highest-priced source of commodities globally.

In livestock markets, April feeder cattle rose by $2.13, closing at $353.33 per hundredweight. Conversely, April lean hogs saw a slight decline of 15 cents, finishing at $95.58 per hundredweight, while April live cattle increased by 88 cents to $233.10 per hundredweight.

As of the latest reports, April crude oil prices surged by $4.25, reaching $71.27 per barrel, reflecting broader market reactions to current events.

Looking ahead, Al Kluis, managing director at Kluis Commodity Advisors, indicated that the ongoing geopolitical climate could lead to a temporary spike in grain markets. He advised market participants to prepare for potential selling opportunities and consider hedging strategies for upcoming crop years.

Overall, the trading day concluded with various commodities facing downward pressure, prompting stakeholders to monitor developments closely.
