A Canadian citizen, Connor Moucka, has pleaded guilty in a major cybercrime case tied to the theft of data from more than 165 organizations. The case centers on unauthorized access to cloud systems and the extraction of massive volumes of records.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Moucka was linked to attacks involving Snowflake, a cloud data platform used by a wide range of companies. Investigators say the breach chain enabled access to customer environments, affecting firms such as AT&T, LendingTree, and Ticketmaster.
Authorities say the stolen material included call and text records, as well as sensitive personal information such as banking details and identification numbers from multiple incidents. The case also involved ransom demands and the resale of data on hacker forums, generating millions of dollars in illicit gains.
Officials described the operation as highly organized and far-reaching, noting that the impact extended well beyond the targeted companies to millions of users whose information was exposed through connected systems. Moucka, also known online by aliases including Waifu and Judische, was arrested in Canada in 2024.
He is scheduled for sentencing on October 27 and could face a lengthy prison term. The case highlights how cloud security, identity protection, and digital trust are becoming central priorities for the next era of connected services.
