Savi launches AI-powered app to help families spot scams in real time

Savi Security launches an AI-powered app for iPhone and Android to detect scam calls, texts and voicemails, offering real-time family protection.

Savi Security, founded by brothers Patrick and Ryan Coughlin, is introducing a new approach to consumer protection as AI-driven scams become more convincing and easier to create.

The startup has raised $7 million in seed funding, led by Acrew Capital with support from Magnify Ventures, TTCER and Resolute Ventures. Its app is now available on iPhone and Android, designed to screen texts, voicemails and incoming calls for signs of fraud.

The idea behind the company came from a family experience in which a scammer used spoofed caller ID and a cloned voice to stage a fake kidnapping demand. That incident pushed the founders to build a tool that could respond in real time, not just after the fact.

Before launching the paid app, the team tested its detection model through a free service called Scam Wise, which allowed users to submit suspicious messages anonymously. The tool quickly gained traction, helping the company collect real-world data to improve its AI systems.

Savi's standout feature is live call monitoring. During a suspicious conversation, users can invite the app to listen and analyze behavioral signals while the call is still happening. The company says this creates a layer of support that feels closer to an AI-powered safety companion than a traditional security app.

The pricing model is also family-focused: $8 per month or $63 per year covers an entire household, with no user limit. That structure is designed to make protection easier to share across parents, children and extended family members.

As generative AI lowers the barrier for deception, Savi is positioning itself as part of a new wave of defensive technology built to match the speed and sophistication of modern digital threats. The broader impact could shape how everyday users protect their voices, messages and trust in the years ahead.
